I know this is my third post in one day but I just started this blog and feel there has been a lot going on in our lives to blog about!!
I am going to try and make this VERY LONG story as short as possible!
So, as most of you know last January Jeff took a job with Farmer's Insurance as a Liability Adjuster. It was something different than the job he worked through college and thought he would give this a try. He found out quickly it was not at all what he thought it would be. I thought it would get better with time, but soon realized it wouldn't. After a few rough months he found out he might be able to transfer to a different department within Farmers and best of all this Transfer would move us home to Cottonwood. Wow! What an unexpected answer to Prayer! Well, that was June 5Th. Since then it has been the most rigorous roller coaster we have been on! When they very first told Jeff about the transfer, they said it would happen in 2-3 months, the time they needed to get someone else trained. Then in July he found out it would be 4-6 months. We were a little bummed but still excited about the new change! Then in September it started to look like it might not happen at all. One week it was because they were too understaffed to let him go, then a few weeks later it was because they were too overstaffed and might be laying people off. It was rather fishy so Jeff thought he should get a plan B going. He decided to apply to the Butte college police academy. This whole time we are praying for God's will to be done and wondering where he wants us to be and what he wants us to be doing. We were trying our hardest to be patient and lean on God with all of our might knowing that he has the ultimate plan and that what we want isn't always what he has in store. In the meantime (Octoberish) Jeff was accepted to the police academy and that was a relief to know we had an out if the transfer didn't go through. On the other hand that too was going to be a big risk since we would be paying for the academy ourselves and then "hoping" Jeff would get hired at the end of it. So, we were still praying that God would open and close the appropriate doors and that we would recognize them! In the meantime Jeff was really getting anxious and just simply wanted the truth from his bosses about the transfer. He decided to go into his boss's boss and ask if he thought the transfer would be happening. He told Jeff it wasn't looking like it would be happening. Of course we were upset since we have been planning our whole lives around this transfer. Later that day, Jeff's boss's boss's boss( I know that's weird, but it's the only way to explain it:) came to Jeff and told him that he didn't want to lose him as an employee and he was 99% sure he could make this transfer happen. So, we had been prepared to put Plan B into action and this news from the big boss made our proverbial roller coaster take ANOTHER dip! All along wondering why God is doing this to us?? What does he want us to learn from all of this?? This whole process has been so mentally exhausting I didn't know if I could hold on for another dip! We just wanted to know what we will be doing when January comes...plan a-transfer with Farmer's or plan b- quit farmers and go through the police academy?? Over the last 5 months we had become so impatient with God and not fully trusting him. We finally surrendered it all to him and were completely waiting on him for an answer! We found out on Friday Jeff got the transfer. We have never been so relieved! God has been there this whole time, it was us who weren't listening! I heard a song today at church that resonated with me. Specifically the chorus, "You are the everlasting God, You will not faint, You won't grow weary, Your the defender of the weak, You comfort those in need." God never gave up on us! He is always there! It is so hard to see a rainbow in the storm but when the storm passes you can see it clearly!
Til next time,
Steph
